TinyText

Type your texts on a real keyboard.

TinyText puts your phone's text messages in your web browser. Write on your computer; your own Android phone sends it, from your own number.

Free to try. Needs an Android phone with the TinySMS app.

Set up in three steps

Your phone does the sending, so there's no new number, no SIM to buy and nothing to port. Your friends see your texts coming from you, as always.

  1. Put the app on your phone

Install TinySMS on your Android phone and sign in. It sits quietly in the background.

  2. Open TinyText on your computer

Go to web.tiny-sms.uk in any browser and sign in with the same account.

  3. Start typing

Pick a name from your phone's contacts and write. Replies show up in the same conversation.

Your contacts stay on your phone

Most "texts on your computer" tools copy your whole address book to someone's server. TinyText doesn't.

  • Numbers never leave your phone. Your browser only sees names; the phone finds the number when it sends.
  • Close the tab and the names are gone. They're fetched when you open TinyText and kept only while it's open.
  • Add or rename contacts from your keyboard. Your phone saves the change in its own address book.

Questions

Does it cost anything to send?

Texts go out through your own phone plan, exactly as if you'd typed them on the phone. TinyText adds nothing to your bill.

Does it work with iPhone?

Not yet. The sending phone needs to be Android; the browser side works on any computer, Mac or PC.

What about replies sent as chat (RCS)?

Those come through too. The phone app picks up replies from Google Messages and Samsung Messages as well as plain texts.

Does my phone need to stay on?

Yes, and online. It doesn't need to be awake: TinyText wakes it the moment you press Send.

Your texts, at your desk.
